Turning 40 has been a game changer for Josie Gibson, who shed 31kg, nearly five stone, to stun fans in record time.
Sharing her secrets in The Josie Gibson Diet book, the much-loved This Morning presenter made it clear: no shortcuts were involved.
She candidly put it in her own words:
“I didn’t get a gastric bypass; I got off my big a**e, moved more, ate less and educated myself on what I was stuffing into my body.”
Backstory: Post-Pregnancy Health Reset
Josie’s journey of transformation isn’t a new topic of conversation. Last year, the TV star shared that post-pregnancy life in 2018 brought about a significant diet overhaul – banishing refined sugars and embracing the natural sweetness found in fruits.
A Realistic Approach to Treats
Josie admitted to treating herself while staying committed to her goals, highlighting a realistic approach to indulgence.
She previously told the Mirror:
“I did the six-day plan on Do The Unthinkable, which entitled me to one day off.”

“Now on that one day off, I had one cheat meal – I didn’t go crazy and drink 10 bottles of wine and binge all day on food and chocolate and all the naughty things I haven’t been having, I just had my one cheat and that was it.”
“So if you’ve got that one day off, don’t undo all your hard work. Just have your one cheat meal and enjoy it. Don’t have a day binge.”
Intermittent Fasting: A Key Part of the Plan
Adding to her weight-loss arsenal was intermittent fasting – an eating pattern where she refrained from food for eight solid hours – standing by this method as a crucial element in her journey to a slimmer, healthier self.
⚠️ Expert Warning on Intermittent Fasting
Despite some positive results associated with intermittent fasting, experts caution it is not a one-stop-shop for health and weight management.
Nutritionist Louise Pyne penned a piece for The Standard where she advised against an over-reliance on the technique:
“While it can achieve good results for some, researchers have found that it doesn’t work for everyone.”
“One intermittent fasting study, which restricted participants to intersperse daily caloric restriction with unrestricted eating actually found that participants ended up eating more on the unrestricted days in anticipation of having to fast the following day, and furthermore, they also ended up exercising less.”
